I also asked Secretary Mayorkas about the recent reporting from The Intercept revealing that the government worked with Big Tech to censor Americans’ speech online. He tried to brush it off and claimed there were no such efforts to curtail free speech, despite the credible whistleblower reports exposing DHS' attempts to create a Disinformation Governance Board earlier this year.

Partisan bureaucrats must be held to account, and in the new Congress, we will do just that.

Exercising Congressional Oversight

On Monday, I spoke on a panel with Julie Kelly and Robert Delahunty, who have both written about the importance of reigning in the administrative state.

The administrative deep state is rotten. These alphabet soup agencies are bloated, woke, politicized, and ripe for reform. I intend to use all available avenues to make government accountable to the people, not to unelected bureaucrats in Washington.

As whistleblowers continue to step forward and speak out against the partisan and abusive tactics from the FBI and other agencies, Congress must pursue justice.

We're less than a week from Thanksgiving, and as we all know, the best turkeys come from North Carolina. But two lucky turkeys won't be on your plate this year, as the President will be pardoning two turkeys from NC-09's own Circle S Ranch in Monroe!

The Tar Heel state is home to almost 33 million turkeys, almost 3.1 turkeys for every resident in the state. North Carolina is responsible for 14% of the country’s turkey production and the industry brings in over $600 million dollars to the state each year.

This year’s Capitol Christmas tree is also from North Carolina, and it arrived in DC today! North Carolina is the best place to spend the holiday season, and we’re happy that a piece of home is bringing Christmas cheer to the nation’s capital.

Upcoming in DC: Lame Duck Congress

Congress is now in the “lame duck” session. This time, the Democrats are on the way out, and looking to jam through a monstrous spending spree. Historically, lame duck sessions see exiting members push the most damaging and wasteful legislation as legacy projects. Congress must stand firm against these rushed and radical policies.

Just this week, the Biden Administration asked Congress for an additional $37.7 billion in Ukraine funding. This is absurd. America has already provided more than $40 billion to Ukraine. These funds have received little to no oversight, which is plainly unacceptable.

Yesterday, I cosponsored a resolution of inquiry that calls for auditing the money we've already sent to the Ukraine. Americans deserve to know where their tax dollars are going, and the blank checks to foreign countries must end.
