It was a busy week on Capitol Hill as my colleagues and I continue wrapping up legislative priorities before the new Congress begins on Jan. 3, 2023.

The next few weeks should prove just as busy as we face a jam-packed legislative to-do list following the mid-term elections.  

I'm honored to be returning to the House next year and consider it a privilege to continue representing Pennsylvania's Eighth Congressional District. 

In the coming months, my team will be busy coordinating constituent surveys, townhalls and other outreach efforts so I can hear from you what I should be focusing on in the 118th Congress. 

In the meantime, read on for this week's highlights.

On Thursday, I introduced new bipartisan legislation that will save taxpayer dollars by improving how the federal government purchases software.

Each year, government agencies spend billions of dollars on software. Due to a lack of visibility on what's already been purchased and the way in which vendors sell their software, duplicative purchases are on the rise.

My Strengthening Agency Management and Oversight of Software Assets Act will benefit American taxpayers by increasing oversight of federal government software purchases in order to reduce this wasteful spending.

This new bill builds on the success of my MEGABYTE Act, which was signed into law in 2016 and has already saved American taxpayers more than $450 million.

Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services is still accepting applications for the 2022-23 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

LIHEAP helps families with low incomes pay their heating bills. Although the program is federally funded, it’s administered by the PA Department of Human Services, which sends cash grants directly to utility companies and fuel providers to be credited towards families’ bills.

The grant amounts are based on household size, income, and fuel type. They do not have to be repaid and are available for both renters and homeowners.
