The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is a great place to work where you can help Veterans in many different ways. I started working for MDVA as a Veteran wanting to help other Veterans and have had the opportunity to do so in a variety of roles and responsibilities.
I enlisted in and served eight years active duty in the Marine Corps with 3rd Battalion 11th Marines and 3rd FAST Company from 1999-2007. I left active duty, moved back to Minnesota and within about a month was enrolled and attending college. I received my college education using GI Bill benefits and eventually started working for MDVA where I had to opportunity to start helping other Vets. I have now worked for MDVA for 11 years and have had the opportunity to assist Veterans in several capacities. My roles have changed through both lateral movements and advancements within the Department, but at the end of the day, being able to help Veterans in some capacity is what it?s all about.
I now am the Supervisor of the MDVA Higher Education Veteran Programs, where we have 12 Regional Coordinators located on college campuses throughout the State assisting Veterans with their education benefits as they pursue their higher education. In addition to education benefits, we are a resource and contact point for many other types of Veteran benefits along with our agency and community partners.
Not only is Minnesota a great place for Veterans to live, MDVA is a great place to work and help Veterans!
