The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law One Year Later

Dear Neighbors,

This week marked one year since President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill into law. One year later, it’s helping to repair our crumbling infrastructure, revitalize our economy, clean up Superfund sites, and ensure families have access to safe drinking water. The law is also accelerating our transition to clean energy with investments to expand renewable energy and electric vehicle infrastructure.

To date, New Jersey has received:

$3.2 billion for roads, bridges, and roadway safety
$5.5 billion to clean up Superfund and brownfield sites
$168 million to provide safe drinking water
$7.5 billion to build an EV charging network
$103 million for clean energy upgrades

This Week in Washington

This week, the House passed several bipartisan bills from my Energy and Commerce Committee that improve health coverage, protect consumers, and promote enrollment in broadband programs.

The Lymphedema Treatment Act will close the gap in coverage that prevents beneficiaries from accessing medically necessary, prescribed compression garments. It’s unacceptable that Medicare does not currently cover the cost of compression garments for seniors dealing with lymphedema.

The House also passed two bills that protect consumers and strengthen animal welfare laws. The INFORM Act requires online platforms to verify the identity of third-party sellers, helping to combat sales of stolen, counterfeit, and dangerous products. The Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act to protect horses from inhumane practices by filling in gaps in our animal welfare laws. It enhances protections and penalties to end the abusive practice of horse soring. Read more here

Internet access is a necessity for participating in our modern economy and society, and both the Lifeline and the Affordable Connectivity Programs play a critical role in helping millions of American families afford it. That’s why the House passed the Ensuring Phone and Internet Access Through Lifeline and Affordable Connectivity Program Act. The bill will help maximize enrollment in these crucial programs by improving transparency around the number of low-income households enrolled. Read more here
