Wollaton has been voted a Top 10 UK park in the 2022 Green Flag People's Choice Awards. Almost 18,000 people took part in the vote to officially name Wollaton and nine other high-quality green spaces across the country as their favourite.
It?s fantastic news that Wollaton has been recognised by the public as their favourite park. Good green space is vital to help improve people?s health and wellbeing and it?s important they are accessible, well-managed and maintained and offer something for everyone within the community.
Wollaton Park really does have everything, from cafes to adventure play areas, lots of trails, the botanical and formal gardens, and so much more.
I would like to congratulate all the team and volunteers at Wollaton for their hard work and passion in making the park such a fantastic and well-loved destination.

Sunday is transgender day of remembrance ? an annual day honouring the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence in the past year.
I?m proud that Nottingham is a friendly, open, diverse and loving city where all kinds of people tend to get along and support each other.?Nonetheless, I?d like to remind everyone that verbal, physical or online abuse towards someone because they?re transgender is a hate crime and should be reported to Nottinghamshire Police.

World Children?s Day is this Sunday, a day where children?s rights are celebrated globally.
This week Nottingham hosted a Discovery Day with UNICEF UK which is supported with the funding from Small Steps Big Changes (SSBC). The journey to become a Child Friendly City is underway as children from local schools across Nottingham gathered to share their thoughts and ideas of how we can mould Nottingham to be a city where children?s rights are considered in all services across the city.
Discovery Day was a great opportunity to hear from a diverse group of children and understand what they want for the city. Through discussions, Lego building and more, the children were able to take further steps to explore what changes can be made.
Nottingham is one step closer to choosing the three additional badges that will determine what areas we can focus on as a city.
For more information about the project please visit here or contact Eky Ghansah, Nottingham?s Child-Friendly City Lead at [email protected]??

Our Catering Teams have been hosting a fantastic line-up of VIP guests to celebrate National School Meals Week. Guests have included the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, the Sheriff of Nottingham, local MPs and councillors. The guests have been invited by Nottingham Catering to meet Nottingham City Council?s Catering Teams, have a school meal with the children and see how mealtimes are helping learning, socialisation and an understanding of environmental issues.
