John,

We are livid. Youngkin has overstepped into education policy once again, but this time his true colors are blazing. He put forth a new history curriculum for elementary school students (K-5) erasing Martin Luther King, Jr. and historical Black Virginia leaders from textbooks and lesson plans. Only after tremendous public pressure did Youngkin slightly amend his radical education plan to allow MLK Day to be taught.

Talking about America’s civil rights heroes is now verboten in Virginia, but you might be interested to know who did make the governor’s final cut:

-Hammurabi
-Ramses II
-Cleopatra
-Marcus Aurelius
-Christopher Columbus
-Robert E. Lee
-Jefferson Davis
-Stonewall Jackson

John, it’s no mistake that Confederate traitors are being elevated by Youngkin while civil rights leaders are being left in the dust. White supremacy is alive and well in Richmond, and we need to make sure we defeat it next year. It is now more important than ever that we increase our check on his power by sending Hala to the Virginia Senate. But to do that, we need to hit every fundraising goal, including November’s. We still need to raise another $1000 this week to make it though. Can you make a $5 donation today?

Hammurabi’s Code of “an eye for an eye” falls in line with Youngkin’s vengeful extremism, but Martin Luther King, Jr.’s message of true justice, equity, and peaceful resistance just doesn’t do it for him.

Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday in the United States, and has been for nearly four decades. After receiving well-deserved backlash this morning, Youngkin agreed to teach the holiday, but stopped short of illuminating the message behind it. It's clear that our governor is out of touch with history, modernity, and most importantly, Virginians.

John, this is not about our children’s maturity level or ability to retain historical information. It’s about one man’s crusade to rewrite history and promote figures that make him feel comfortable. Well, Virginia is much bigger than Youngkin and his personal feelings. We need to fight back against his hostile takeover of our education system, and keep it as one of the best in the nation. Will you join our team with a $5 contribution today, and help us send Hala to Richmond to defeat Gov. Youngkin’s extreme and ahistorical agenda?

This is (literally) a battle for the history books,
