Matching Gift Challenge:
Begins now!

Dear friend,

This year of unprecedented challenge demands an equally unprecedented response from every one of us who cares about what happens to people enduring extreme hardship around the globe. There truly is no time to waste.

So rather than wait until #GivingTuesday, we are opening our $150,000 #GivingTuesday Matching Gift Challenge early to help ensure you can make the most of this chance to multiply your impact.

As war, poverty, and climate-driven disasters put millions of people at risk, your gift today has the power to help make tomorrow safer, healthier, and brighter for families in 40+ countries.

Mercy Corps CEO Tjada D’Oyen McKenna (left) speaks with Hawa Issack (center) in a camp for displaced families in Somalia.
When I visited Somalia, I met people like Hawa Issack. She has six children of her own and cares for an additional six orphaned children. Hawa used to be a farmer, but due to repeated seasons of drought, her crops were failing and she was forced to leave her home to help her family survive. She receives cash assistance from Mercy Corps, which helps her buy rice, and also to sell fruits and vegetables to other people in the camp. This is how she meets her family’s daily needs.

Historic drought, climate shocks, combined with global food shortages have put Somalia on the brink of famine, with more than 7.8 million people already facing hunger. Mercy Corps is providing humanitarian aid to almost 600,000 people in Somalia, with programming focused on water access, cash assistance, as well as support for children’s education.

You can help make this kind of impact possible for families in 40+ countries with a generous #GivingTuesday gift that will sustain Mercy Corps’ humanitarian work through whatever challenges lie ahead in 2023.
Multiply your impact ▸
And today, your support will go even further, thanks to a group of generous donors who have made gifts to our Matching Gift Challenge Fund — to inspire others to meet this moment of need with even greater generosity.

Your matching gift today can help us go 2x as far for communities across the globe. Open #GivingTuesday with us — donate now and multiply your impact for people facing crisis this giving season.

Sincerely,
