Celebrating 100 years of the Sherwood Estate ??
Celebrating 100 Years

*We have celebrated 100 years of the Sherwood Estate ??*

It was great to celebrate this and our community organised centenary celebrations, with volunteers and lots of local people at the Sherwood Estate.

Sherwood councillors helped on the day and part-funded the event. This was a family event at the green on Danethorpe Vale with lots of free activities and food and the evening was a celebration at the Sherwood Community Centre where the Sherwood Estate History was unleashed.

It was a great day enjoyed by the community

Peggy's Park Improvement Day
Peggy's Park Improvement Day

Green Guardians have been organising park improvement days across the city. This involves a session of litter picking, scrub clearance, graffiti clearing and more, we had Peggy's Park improvement day in October.

Our Green Guardians volunteers, Sherwood Councillors and residents rolled up their sleeves and helped with graffiti cleaning, and litter picking. The park was all tidied up and we hope to have some more park improvement days next year.

Thank you all for making it happen!

Woodville road planters
green barrier

A ‘green barrier’ of planters was put on a trial basis at the bottom of Woodville Road to address concerns that residents raised with us about ‘ran-running’ traffic in the area.

People were concerned about the safety of children playing on streets, and the impact speeding cars were having on the area.

The majority of residents were in favour of the scheme, so the trial barrier has now been planted up awaiting a formal legal process in which residents will have a further opportunity to make their views known.

Frobisher and Wilmington Gardens
wilmington

We have been working with colleagues to look at potential improvements to the area around the flats, having already sited a CCTV camera on Longdale Road.

We are pulling together potential schemes of improvements which will be shared with residents for their input and views.

Waste Consultation Survey ??️♻️
waste consultation

*Have your say on how waste and recycling is collected in Nottingham ♻️*

The UK Government has set a national target to increase the amount of waste recycled in England to 65%, while keeping waste that ends up in landfill below 10%. The Government is also introducing new collection rules for food waste and recycling to deliver more consistency across England.

To achieve these goals, the City Council is proposing new options for waste and recycling collections in Nottingham. These include:

* Working on initiatives to help people reuse and repair items rather than throwing them away
* Helping people to manage waste well and recycle the right things
* Starting food waste collections
* Making changes to how we collect recycling
* Offering smaller general waste bins
* Increasing our fleet of ‘alternative-fuel’ bin lorries

To help us shape the final strategy, we want you to tell us your thoughts on waste and recycling in Nottingham. Sharing your opinions will allow us to create a new strategy that works for the city.
