Dear Friend,
One year ago this week, we made history. President Biden signed the largest investment in our nation’s infrastructure in generations into law. Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate all the important projects that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has made possible in the past year.
New Mexicans—especially our rural and Tribal communities—know how important infrastructure like broadband, our roads, and our water infrastructure is for our economy. This bill is setting New Mexico up for a climate-resilient future that will create thousands of good jobs for New Mexicans.
This monumental legislation is set to invest $3.7 billion in our state’s infrastructure—so let’s check in on the progress so far!
- $1.1 billion for New Mexico’s Roads and Bridges.
- 142,000 New Mexicans Saving on Broadband: If you think you might qualify for internet programs, find out at GetInternet.gov.
- $311 million for Clean Drinking Water.
- $73.5 million for New Mexico’s Public Transit.
- $18.1 million for Clean School Buses and Low Emission Buses.
- $13.9 million to build the first-ever national network of electric vehicle chargers.
- $36.1 million for clean energy, energy efficiency, and power.
- $24 million for airports across our state.
- $241 million for infrastructure resilience, including $18.7 million through the Army Corps of Engineers for flood mitigation.
- $46 million for capping orphaned oil and gas wells and reclaiming abandoned mine lands and $3.9 million has been allocated to cleaning up Superfund and brownfield sites.
