Hi,

If Trump gets his way, he'll start the new year with a new war with Iran.

Just days into 2020, Trump directed a drone strike that killed high-profile Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani. Even for Trump it's an extremely reckless action that risks starting a massive new war.

Because of Trump, the new year just got more dangerous. Our allies in Congress are mobilizing to take action -- right now -- to stop Trump from plunging the US into war with Iran. They need our help.

Tell Congress: Stop Trump from going to war with Iran!

Trump has been moving us closer to war with Iran for months. As soon as he was elected, Trump began putting warhawks like Mike Pompeo and Gina Haspel into cabinet-level and director-level positions. Then Trump pulled the US out of the Iran nuclear deal, and doubled-down on harsh economic sanctions.

But every time Trump inches closer to war, we've fought back. Demand Progress members like you worked hard in 2019 to stop Trump, asking Congress to pass the War Powers Resolution that would pull the US out of Yemen (potentially ending a war there), and prevent Trump from taking military against Iran in the first place.

Last year, you signed those petitions to Congress, and they had a real impact. Thanks to your pressure, the House passed resolutions to weaken Trump's ability to go to war. But Mitch McConnell blocked them in the Senate.

Now that war is looming, we have to push even harder if we're going to end wars and save lives in 2020. Senators Tim Kaine and Bernie Sanders, and Representative Ro Khanna, have already proposed legislation to stop Trump.1 Now is the time to act. We have to speak up. We have to start now. And we have to be firm.

Tell Congress: Stop the war in Iran!

Thanks for taking action,

Tihi and the team at Demand Progress
