John, with all eyes on Georgia’s Senate runoff election, I’m writing to let you know a little about what’s been going on in our state.
The team here at Common Cause Georgia spent all year leading up to the general election watching closely to stop the types of voter suppression, election lies, and intimidation we saw in the 2020 Election. And now, we are preparing to step up and continue our work to protect EVERY voter through the December 6th runoff.
Although we’re exhausted from the general election, we’re also ready to face the challenges of the runoff head on. Common Cause Georgia has the expertise and already-built organizing network to mobilize and protect the rights of each and every voter during this all-important runoff election.
But if we’re going to keep this critical work going through December 6 – we need your help. You see, we put nearly everything we had into the general election this year – and it paid off. Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to build one of our largest volunteer operations yet and make sure every vote counted.
Now the team at Common Cause Georgia is putting every last drop of energy into recruiting another team of dedicated volunteers to carry us through December 6th. And with all eyes on Georgia – including the attention of every election denier in the country – we need this effort to be even bigger than before.
Common Cause Georgia has spent years building relationships that will make all the difference in the coming weeks. We’ve been fighting for voters’ rights — working with county election officials across the state — to make sure every voter can cast their ballot safely and free from obstruction.
That record drove the success of our Election Protection work over the last month, with our state seeing its highest-ever midterm voter turnout.
But this marathon election isn’t over for Georgia. I’m writing to you today because, ahead of the runoff, we urgently need an infusion of resources to ramp up our nonpartisan Election Protection program. Our team has been working non-stop to defend EVERY voter’s rights — and I’m simply amazed at what we’ve been able to accomplish together so far.
John, we’ll now be forced to double our efforts between today and the December 6 runoff if we want to make sure every single vote counts — and that means springing into action immediately.
The 2022 election has already been among the most divisive and high-stakes midterms in decades. And now, Georgia voters are right at the center of it.
I’m taking the time to write to you because we urgently need to budget for this runoff election — and the size of our operation will depend on whether we get support from Common Cause members, like you, all across the nation. And by showing your support early, your action will go even further.
I’ve seen the difference our massive volunteer operation made all year, and it’s absolutely imperative we keep it running for the next month — without skipping a single beat.
We’re expecting even more attention and sadly, more cynical and shameful attempts to suppress the vote in our state than we've seen all year. And training, equipping, and placing the surge of volunteers we’re expecting will be expensive and time-consuming — but absolutely necessary.
It costs us $50 to fully prepare one new volunteer for the field — and sponsoring one early will enable us to make the greatest impact. Can you please sponsor one or more volunteers to protect voters in Georgia?
Thank you for your support, and for all you are doing for our democracy.
