Census data shapes OUR future. You have the power to help strengthen our democracy. ? TAKE THE PLEDGE [link removed] ? ? ? ? ? The Trump administration has been working overtime to try to undercount ? and underrepresent ? disproportionately-impacted communities in the 2020 census. But we won't let him. Friend ? The 2020 census is officially starting in less than three months. And it's more important than ever that all of our communities are accurately counted ? and represented.

That's because census information determines political representation, legislative districts, and government funding for environmental and public health programs. A fair and accurate count is necessary to ensure that resources are distributed equitably, especially for communities of color, low-wealth, and immigrant communities that are disproportionately impacted by climate change and pollution.

And despite Trump's attempts to undermine the census, the law requires each person to be counted, regardless of immigration status.

The census count will officially begin in April (except for Alaska, where the count begins in January!). That's just three short months away! We need to know that LCV supporters are ready to participate.

I believe that ensuring that everyone is fairly counted is critical to ensuring that all communities have seats at the table and a voice in the decisions that impact them.

As communities of color are among the most impacted by environmental injustice, we should be doing more to protect and amplify their voices in our political process. If our communities aren't fully counted, they could miss out on crucial investments in clean water and other community and environmental protections.

That's why, as the 2020 census nears, we'll be ramping up our efforts to ensure that ALL of our communities are fully counted, starting with LCV supporters like you.
