Hi John,
We are in our final days of the UN Climate Conference, COP27, and there's a chance that every country could agree to phase out ALL fossil fuels.
That would mean scaling back and stopping the burning of coal, oil, and gas — the three biggest causes of the climate crisis. This would be an extraordinary victory.
We’re going to bring this letter signed by people from across the world directly to COP27 tomorrow before negotiations close. This is urgent - so please add your name now.
COP decisions are hugely important: they’re the only global agreement dedicated to tackling the climate crisis.
And this year, Small Island States, the European Union, India, and others are trying to get a commitment to “phase down all fossil fuels” in the COP27 agreement.
But right now, U.S. presidential envoy for climate, John Kerry, has stated that the U.S. is supportive of the idea, but will continue to fund oil, gas, and coal projects that use carbon capture and other false solution technology to control greenhouse gas emissions.
If the U.S. wants to be a real leader on climate, our leaders must push real solutions and support a complete phase out of fossil fuel usage without any loopholes.
Every single signature added will help show world leaders the scale of support for this movement. Before negotiations end, our team on the ground at COP27 will make sure our words reach their targets.
Our movement has been fighting for this for decades. Now this victory is within our reach.
