John,

We work with communities to help make their visions of green space a
reality. That means collaborating with city officials and community
groups to generate funding and create parks that address health needs,
reflect local culture, and meet residents' aspirations. This month,
voters helped with this process by deciding to support
conservation-focused ballot measures.

-Alana Fink, Trust for Public Land

P.S. Through our participatory process, we strive to create parks that
are welcoming, well used, and well loved. Do you have a favorite TPL
park that has catalyzed civic engagement? Tell us about it!

Voters Spoke for Greener, Healthier Communities

On November 8, Americans affirmed their desire for clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat, parks, and climate resilience in their communities. This year, 31 of 34 TPL-supported state and local ballot measures passed. The measures will fund urban parks, forest restoration, and wildlife habitat protection, and help bring disadvantaged communities closer to nature. They underscore the value citizens place on parks and outdoor space.

Black History Is American History

From protecting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s childhood
neighborhood to enriching the visitor experience at a little-known
all-Black settlement in Kansas, TPL has been working for decades to
help tell our country's full story. As TPL Black History and
Culture Director Dr. Jocelyn Imani puts it, these sites
"highlight self-determination, love, joy-all these
universal values within the Black experience."

A Green Space for All Ages and Abilities

From splashpad to bike trail, universally accessible playground to
skate space, Panorama Park in Colorado Springs relied heavily on the
community's input during its recent $8.5 million renovation. The
once-desolate 13-acre park now teems with children, families, and
senior citizens who thrive in the shade of 250 new trees, where they
connect with neighbors and reap the benefits of a close-to-home space
for exercise and relaxation.
