The history of capital punishment is rooted in racism and injustice. So, it should come as no surprise that this administration -- itself defined by hatred and bigotry -- has made the decision to reinstate the death penalty at the federal level.

But we have the power to ensure this draconian decision is not the end of the conversation. The death penalty has no place in a just society. That’s why I’ve introduced H.R. 4052, a bill that would end -- for good -- the death penalty at the Federal level.

Once again, this administration is using racist rhetoric to defend this vile policy. It’s the same language the Occupant of the White House himself used when calling for the execution of the Exonerated Five.
