It’s official, John:
The Associated Press is projecting that Republicans will have a small majority in the next House of Representatives.
That means that Republicans will now have the majority necessary to stop vital legislation, launch baseless investigations, and even hold the global economy hostage to their extreme agenda.
We need to shore up our defenses right now — and that starts by expanding the current 50-seat Democratic Senate majority. Working Families Party organizers and volunteers are already on the ground in Georgia just like we were two years ago, getting out the vote via canvassing, texting, calls, and more. Can you chip in to help us reach even more voters in Georgia before the critical Senate runoff on December 6th?

Republicans may have control of the House of Representatives next year. But there are still a lot of reasons to remain hopeful.
The GOP massively underperformed this year. The normal pattern of midterms had many assuming there would be a “red wave” — yet, we defied political gravity. How were we able to stop a red wave?
-
Voters rejected right-wing extremism and the attack on abortion rights.
The MAGA caucus is out of touch with their audience. Many of Trump’s candidates lost due to conservative attacks on abortion rights, insurrection-sympathizing candidates, and messaging about the economy.
-
Democrats had the receipts on the economy.
Inflation was front-of-mind for voters, but Democrats could clearly outline where they cut costs for working people — including prescription drug negotiation and canceling some student debt.
-
Young people showed up in record-setting numbers.
People between the ages of 18-29 had the second-highest turnout rate in the past three decades. Recent polling shows this demographic supports student debt cancellation, gun violence reduction legislation, and the Inflation Reduction Act — and this demographic showed up in force.
-
Progressives filled crucial gaps.
Organizations including WFP hit the ground running for inspiring candidates in places and races neglected by the traditional Democratic campaign institutions or state parties.
So where do we go from here?
The Republican majority in the House will be small. That means they will be forced to answer to their most extreme members. Meanwhile Democrats retain control not just of the White House, but of the Senate as well.
We need to be ready to fight back against anything Republicans might throw our way — and that starts by expanding our Senate majority and electing Raphael Warnock in the critical runoff in Georgia on December 6th. Can you chip in to help us reach as many voters as possible over the next few weeks in Georgia?
