Business Dynamics Statistics of U.S. High Tech Industries?Experimental Data Product Released

Today the U.S. Census Bureau releases an expansion of the?Business Dynamics Statistics?data product. The?Business Dynamics Statistics of U.S. High Tech Industries?(BDS-High Tech)?is an?experimental data product?that provides annual measures of business dynamics for High Tech and non-High Tech industries, defined by Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupation density.

BDS-High Tech?data tables show key economic data:

• Number of establishments, firms, and employment
• Job creation and destruction
• Establishment openings and closings
• Number of startups and firm shutdowns

The?BDS-High Tech?series provides annual statistics for 1978 to 2020 by:

• Economy-wide
• Firm size
• Initial firm size
• Firm age
• Establishment size
• Initial establishment size
• State
• Metro/Non-Metro
• MSA
