John,
The Associated Press has officially called the race for control of the House, and Republicans have won a narrow majority.
The reality is, with Kevin McCarthy and his fellow election deniers in control for the next two years, we can’t expect the House to provide any meaningful accountability when it comes to the January 6th insurrection, Donald Trump’s corruption, or efforts to undermine our democratic institutions.
But John, at CREW, we are prepared to fight harder than ever against corruption and abuse of power — and hold accountable all those who, like Donald Trump, have sought to overturn the results of free and fair elections.
Holding powerful people accountable takes a lot of resources, John, and these election results make our work more important than ever. Will you pitch in $25, or any amount that works for you, and help fund our efforts?
We are no stranger to fighting for accountability and justice even when Congress turns a blind eye. CREW took on Trump hours after he took office in 2017. We tracked his corruption and took legal action to hold him accountable, exposed his and his administration’s disregard for the rule of law, and fought for reform.
In the aftermath of January 6th, our legal, policy, and investigative work uncovered new information about how the insurrection unfolded and exposed new depths of Trump’s corruption.
We also successfully removed an insurrectionist from office, in the first successful use of the Disqualification Clause in court in 150 years.
There’s no question about it: election deniers gaining new power in the House is a big obstacle in the fight to defend American democracy. But at CREW, we are in this fight for the long haul, and we won’t let up regardless of who is in power.
If you’re able, please consider making a donation now — because we can’t do this work without supporters like you who are dedicated to the values of accountability, transparency, and democracy.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
President, CREW
