I wish the journey to secure the care my loved one needed had been easier. I wish I had had someone with experience to whom I could reach out for guidance on how to help my family member access much-needed care. I have had to learn a great deal about navigating our broken mental health care system, through trial and error and from listening to the stories of other families.
Now, I’m deeply moved to be able to use my life experience and knowledge to help others. Sometimes when people call, they’re just looking to connect. Other times, they’re calling in the midst of a serious crisis. Whatever the circumstance, I’m so glad I can be an empathetic resource.
While I’m working directly with family members, other Treatment Advocacy Centre staff members are advocating to change laws and the entire system relating to SMI. Our staff may be small, but we are mighty — and we’re all united in the effort to eliminate barriers to timely and effective treatment for those with SMI and to support their loved ones.
Please, make a generous donation to Treatment Advocacy Center. Your donation supports my work guiding families through day-to-day challenges, as well as the policy work to ensure that everyone gets the treatment and support they need.
Be well,
