My response to the Trump administration’s reckless actions
John,
In light of the Trump administration’s reckless actions in the Middle East yesterday, I want to reiterate that one of the reasons I’m running for Congress is because my opponent, Carolyn Maloney, has written Republicans a blank check for war.
She voted for the Authorization of the Use of Military Force (AUMF), which then-President George W. Bush used to attack Iraq in a war based on lies. Now Trump has used this same AUMF to justify his irresponsible actions.
She has accepted more than $58,000 in defense PAC money over the course of her career.
She recently votedfor a bloated $738 billion defense bill which hands Trump the money he wants to create chaos around the globe.
As a grassroots, people-powered candidate primarying someone who has enabled endless wars, I want you to know that:
I will vote against handing our presidents, present and future, the blank checks that have created massive loss of human life and squandering of our resources.
I will do everything I can to prevent wars, not start them for profit.
I reject defense contractor money and refuse to be influenced by nefarious players in our politics.
In short, I will continue to stand for people, not profit.
