Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was forced to again delay President Trump's Senate impeachment trial over the Democrats reluctance to send over the articles of impeachment.
According to the Washington Examiner, “Instead of sending articles to the Senate, they flinched,” McConnell stated.
“We can’t hold a trial without the articles,” McConnell expressed in frustration. “The Senate’s own rules don’t provide for that.” McConnell was hoping to initiate the trial this month but now has to move on to dealing with other regular legislation.
“For now, we are content to continue the ordinary business of the Senate while House Democrats continue to flounder, for now,” McConnell stated. He then said that if Democrats “ever muster the courage to stand behind their slapdash work product and transmit the articles,” the Senate will begin their work.
Sadly, the Democrats don't intent to budge on their insane demands. Just today Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer demanded for “a commitment up front” from McConnell that would allow for witnesses in the Senate trial.
Democrats are hoping they can subpoena Trump officials to testify and prove that Trump withheld aid from Ukraine until they gave him dirt on the Biden family.
All of these antics by Democrats most likely means that Pelosi will continue to hold the articles of impeachment.
