Young voters defeated Trump in 2020. And we will again in 2024.

John,

Here we go again, Donald Trump is running for President…

This announcement is a sad, desperate attempt by Trump, and is also terrifying as hell.

Fascism and right wing extremism is on the rise, but let’s be clear: young people know how to defeat Trump. Young voters defeated Trump in 2020. We defeated Trumpism after Democrats passed the biggest climate package in our history and again when we stopped the Red Wave.

And we WILL defeat Trump once and for all in 2024, or any other Republican nominee who threatens our shot at winning a Green New Deal, by continuing to organize our communities that have saved this country over and over again.

John, we have a plan. And we need your help to launch it in three weeks. Will you commit to organizing with Sunrise in our next era to defeat Trump and win a Green New Deal?

Commit

In his announcement last night, Trump spoke of movement building, just as the GOP has spent decades organizing and polarizing locally to gain power.

Right-wing extremism is on the rise. The GOP spent the past few decades organizing and polarizing communities on the ground to build power, which is how they were able to load a Supreme Court willing to reverse Roe v. Wade despite a Democratic trifecta in the House, Senate and Oval Office. And they’re not stopping. Fox News host Laura Ingraham recently named bringing young people in as a top goal for Republicans ahead of 2024.

That's why movements like ours are so important. We must be as ambitious as our opponents. And we must counter the GOP by organizing everywhere to build enough power to transform our country for good.

That starts with our plan to organize our generation to be an unstoppable bloc and put the pressure on the Democratic Party to invest in and fight for a livable future. Will you join us by committing to continue organizing with Sunrise today? We'll keep you posted on the next era of Sunrise and how you can help in the weeks to come.

Going into 2023, Sunrise Movement is leaning into a new strategy to make this work happen. We are going to be doubling down in our cities, towns and schools to train and activate thousands of young people because it’s time for us to get serious about building long-term power and organizing a movement across race and class that can transform our society and take over every level of government — especially as right-wing extremists continue to wage that battle themselves.

We will be running campaigns focused on communities, schools and organizing Black and brown folks across the country who have long been ignored and chewed up by our system.

We are on a mission to deliver a Green New Deal for our generation. We will build a country where everyone has access to clean air, clean water, and a good-paying job; where all of us and our kids won’t live in fear of the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

And Donald Trump running for president won’t stop us. We helped defeat him in 2020 and if he's the Republican nominee in 2024, we will defeat him again. Back to organizing to win a Green New Deal.

In solidarity,

Varshini, Sunrise
