John, It’s been a week since we won this critical U.S. House race and flipped NM-02 from red to blue. I’m still on cloud 9 and so grateful for your help in achieving this victory. In the days since, I’ve been busy traveling to Washington, D.C. and getting oriented with the rest of my fellow Congressmembers-elect. But I’m sure you saw the news: last night, Donald Trump announced he’s running for president again. This man has lied time and time again, pushed dangerous conspiracy theories, tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in his favor, and inspired the violent insurrection on the U.S. Capitol in 2021. Throughout his four years in office, Trump sowed division and hatred through his words and dangerous agenda against immigrants, people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, and working families. He put himself before his country too many times to count. We cannot forget any of that or let him get anywhere near the Oval Office again. While we must take this threat to our democracy and our country seriously, I am confident that we the people will once again come together to stand up for our shared values and stand against hate. We did it this November. While pundits and pollsters warned of a massive red wave, we successfully flipped this toss-up seat, protected dozens of other crucial House seats, won multiple governor races, and held the Senate majority. We stopped election-denying MAGA extremists up and down the ballot across the country. I know we can, and will, do it again.
With Trump throwing his hat in the ring, we know things are about to get ugly with more name-calling, attacks, and conspiracy theories. But together, we can overcome the hatred and division and continue to move our country forward. Si se puede, Gabe
