Predictions for 2020

Check your calendar – it’s now 2020. But I don’t need a calendar to tell me that we’ve entered another action-packed year for Indiana politics.

Here’s a few of my predictions on what we have to look forward to in Indiana in 2020:
1.) President Trump will shine in Indiana
Indiana is Trump Country, and in 11 months, I predict we’ll again be the first state on the board for President Trump and Vice President Pence! The U.S. has now seen wage growth above 3% for the last 16 months, while the unemployment rate sits at a 50-year low. There’s no doubt that President Trump is delivering real results, and Hoosiers will respond when they go to the ballot box.

2.) Governor Holcomb will lead an unprecedented, winning campaign
He means it when he says that he’s Putting People First. It’s the centerpiece of Governor Holcomb’s campaign, and this year, you’ll see Hoosiers from ALL 92 counties and all walks of life coming together to tell a story about how we’re making Indiana an even greater place to call home…with more good jobs, better health, and wider opportunities. And that will lead to another victory in November, and four more years of results for Hoosiers.

3.) More Hoosiers will choose Republican leadership in local government, in the General Assembly, and in Congress
Hoosiers are living the benefits of Republican leadership in all levels of government -- local, state and federal. In fact, today we hold we hold 89% of county commissioner seats. This November, I predict that Hoosiers will continue to choose Republicans to lead, with big wins for our members of Congress (including a new member in the 5th District), our supermajorities in the Indiana House and Senate, and at our county courthouses throughout the state.

4.) Governor Holcomb will drive a bold 2020 Next Level Agenda
Just because he’s running for re-election doesn’t mean he’ll stop delivering results. With the legislative session starting next week (and the State of the State coming on January 14), you can expect to see a bold agenda from Governor Holcomb in 2020, including supporting our teachers, promoting health care pricing transparency, and making our roads safer.

Of course, none of this will be easy. Between now and November, it’s going to take hard work – whether that’s knocking on doors, making calls, talking to your friends and neighbors, sharing our posts on social media, or chipping in a few dollars ([link removed][UNIQID]) . I’d really encourage you to join us for Congress of Counties ([link removed][UNIQID]) at the end of the month to learn more about what’s next and to continue to build the skills necessary for victory (learn more and register here ([link removed][UNIQID]) ).

We’ll need the full team at work to turn these predictions into reality. But I know we can make it happen.

Happy 2020…now let’s get to work!

Next Week: 2020 Legislative Session

Next week, your state legislators are returning to the Statehouse for the start of the 2020 legislative session. It will be a “short,” non-budget session, and will run through March.

Make sure you’re in touch with your legislators to let them know which issues are most important to you this year. If you don’t know your legislators, you can find them here ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
