Rep. Josh Gottheimer was one of just five Democrats to vote against requiring Congressional approval to go to war with Iran, and repealing the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force.
Both proposals were stripped from the National Defense Authorization Act, which could have prevented Trump's dangerous escalation with Iran.

I am deeply concerned about Trump's foreign policy. His killing of a major Iranian general without consulting Congress further destabilizes the Middle East and puts us on the brink of war.
I worry for the safety of our servicemembers abroad and the millions of civilians in harm's way.
One thing is clear: the President should not unilaterally start a dangerous war with Iran without an act of Congress. Congress must do its job and fight Trump.
