And after a couple of different career paths in my life, I decided to create a new business: Women’s Wilderness Discovery, with a focus on empowering women through year-round outfitted, guided trips in the Boundary Waters.
The town of Ely seemed the perfect place to build my business, at the very edge of the wilderness. My company attracts travelers from across the country and around the world. This special wild place refreshes the soul. It can change lives for the better…sometimes in very small ways, and sometimes in impactful, life changing ways.
But my business could not grow, thrive, or even survive if toxic copper mining was allowed anywhere near this pristine watershed. My company would be dead in the polluted waters. The Boundary Waters must be permanently protected for the health of the economy.
Studies find that an intact Wilderness benefits the economy more than a risky copper mine, and 100% of copper mines - worldwide - have failed.
Why risk the Boundary Waters?
