Send an email—San Francisco's housing plan depends on you

Yesterday, the Board of Supervisors held a hearing on San Francisco's housing plan for 2023–2031. The plan, called the housing element, will decide whether we will be able to fix our housing crisis in the upcoming years.

What happened is alarming. The Planning Department withheld crucial information about the the feedback they got from the State of California on what needs to change. The final draft they have crafted includes no accountability for San Francisco, and they are telling the state that housing production will double even as they told the supervisors yesterday that housing production is dropping like a rock. And they glossed over the state's important feedback not incorporated into the housing element.

This is truly alarming. SF Planning is hoping nobody notices that the plan will allow the status quo to continue—they are empowering the Board of Supervisors to continue denying projects like 450 O'Farrell and 469 Stevenson and driving housing production out of San Francisco.

We have to show the city that we are paying attention. Send just one email today to let them know. The Planning Commission is holding a hearing tomorrow to start the process of approving the housing element. This plan is completely broken even before it is set to be approved. Tell them you won't accept that. Tell them we deserve better.
