President Biden Must
Reject a Massive Drilling Project Threatening the Western Arctic
ConocoPhillips' Willow project would produce carbon emissions equivalent to one year of pollution from at least 76 coal plants. President Biden has the power to stop it, but he has to act now.
Tell President Biden: To protect the Western Arctic and to honor national climate goals, he must reject the Willow project.

Friend — this week, with the support of environmental groups across the country, we are organizing a coordinated pressure campaign on President Biden to reject ConocoPhillips' Willow project.
This is big. If the Willow project is allowed to move forward, it would amount to the largest oil extraction project on federal lands. It would lock in three more decades of fossil fuel production when the need to transition to clean energy has never been more obvious.
Willow would require up to 250 oil wells, hundreds of miles of pipelines, a gravel mine, a new processing facility, and artificial "chillers" to refreeze the Arctic's melting permafrost. All of this would add significant additional carbon pollution — and irreversibly change the Western Arctic ecosystem.
Our partners in Alaska and across the country are urging President Biden to reject the disastrous Willow Project. Will you join them by adding your name today? The President has the power to protect this fragile environment and our climate goals — but it will only happen if our movement speaks up right now.
This project amounts to nothing more than corporate greed. ConocoPhillips reported $4.53 billion in earnings this quarter — an increase of 90% compared to last year. Not satisfied with these record profits as they gouge Americans with higher energy prices, ConocoPhillips is demanding they be allowed to permanently destroy the Arctic for financial gain.
The Western Arctic is the cultural homeland and subsistence area for a number of Alaska Native communities, including the Indigenous village of Nuiqsut, which is just 36 miles from the drill site. This fragile area of Alaska is already warming four times faster than the rest of the world due to climate change.
This pristine land also supports robust wild ecosystems that include caribou, geese, loons, salmon, polar bears, and bowhead whales. Any disruption that jeopardizes these ecosystems' health puts all of the region's inhabitants at risk.
Time is running out to stop this dangerous project from moving forward. Join your voices with activists in Alaska and around the country. It only takes a few seconds to tell President Biden that we must protect the Western Arctic and our climate goals.
Thank you for taking action today.
Onward,
