It’s no secret — the past two years have fueled a global hunger and food crisis of a scale not seen in years, and Ecuador was one of the hardest-hit countries.
When the pandemic shuttered markets and forced residents indoors, Heifer Ecuador devised a way to avoid a growing hunger emergency. In partnership with local, mostly women farmers, they created a Food Basket delivery system and the country’s first online marketplace.
Heifer Ecuador’s innovative Food Basket system has successfully kept hardworking farmers earning a steady income and feeding urban families for two years.
