Friend, If the label on your food product says “reduced sugar,” it could contain artificial sweeteners that a new study says may increase your risk of certain heart diseases and stroke. Artificial sweeteners can be found in more than 23,000 products, including already sweet foods like canned fruit with “no sugar added.” Although consumption of artificial sweeteners has risen in recent years as people try to cut their sugar intake, the American Academy of Pediatrics and other organizations have noted a possible connection between these substances and weight gain, diabetes and other health issues. Now that this new study connects artificial sweeteners with serious conditions like heart disease and stroke, it’s time for us to act. Do you have time to complete our short survey before midnight tonight? Your response will help EWG take a stand against harmful food additives. |
