Edinburg Receives Music Friendly Community Designation

?Music not only unites us, it also brings joy, reflects different cultures, and is good for the soul,? said Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa. ?Music is also a great economic development tool that improves our communities and enhances our quality of life. I appreciate Governor Abbott?s leadership in promoting music in Texas and congratulate the City of Edinburg for earning the Music Friendly Community designation that will benefit both the businesses and residents in our community.?

Music Friendly Community Notes From the Road: October 2022

Every month, we will be sharing a recap of Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams? travels throughout the state. Chip manages our Music Friendly Community Program, which includes over 30 cities throughout Texas, and growing every day.

This month, Chip made trips to Harlingen, McAllen, Edinburg, Corsicana, Selma, and Houston, and had the opportunity to meet up with several existing and potential Music Friendly Communities in the region.

Texas Songwriter U (TxSU)?is an annual songwriting development program consisting of a songwriting competition, educational workshop and showcase event. Season 8 of?Texas Songwriter U?(TxSU)?opened for?submissions?on September 26, 2022 and the deadline to apply is?November 21, 2022.

Founded in 2014, the mission of TxSU serves to identify, develop and support the best adult songwriters in Texas, while improving upon the quality and quantity of professional songwriting across our state.?
