BREAKING NEWS: Trump just launched his 2024 presidential campaign

John, it's Sen. Tom Carper. Listen, I'm just as upset as you are to hear that Trump has officially launched his 2024 presidential campaign. We may have known this day was coming, but it doesn't make the anger and sadness we feel any less significant. 

Let me make this abundantly clear: Donald Trump is not in this race for you or your family. He's not in it for the good of our country or for the next generation of Americans. His self-interest, power, and personal fortune will always be his only priorities.

For years – decades even – Donald Trump has been showing us exactly who he is: A liar, a cheat, a misogynist, a racist, an egomaniac, and a man who would do anything and sacrifice everything we care about to advance his own self-interest.

We saw the truth of who he is when he pushed a hateful, radical agenda as president. We saw it when he was impeached – not once, but TWICE. We saw it when he spread dangerous lies and misinformation in the midst of a pandemic. And we saw it when he refused to accept the results of a fair and free election, pushing conspiracy theories and inciting a deadly insurrection.

Listen, John, there’s hardly anyone out there who represents more of a threat to our Democratic values and our democracy than Donald Trump.

Make no mistake, Trump on the ballot is an existential threat to our democracy. I helped defeat him before, and I’m ready to do it again – but I cannot do this without people like you standing beside me. That's why tonight, I need you to join me in rejecting his hateful ideology and dangerous lies. Please, will you make a donation to stand up to Trump and condemn his efforts to make a mockery of us and everything we believe in? I really hope I can count on you.
