Dear John,
A week after Election Day, the majority of ballots have been received and counted. Expectations were high and we had some disappointing losses, but there is some good news to report.
After a tough race and a competitive campaign, Christine Drazan didn’t quite pull it off. Sadly, Representative Raquel Moore-Green also lost her senate race against Deb Patterson.
However, in January, Oregon will send two pro-life representatives to Congress. Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer (Happy Valley) flipped the Fifth Congressional District in a historic win, and Rep. Cliff Bentz (R–Ontario) easily held the Second Congressional District.
Kim Thatcher (R–Keizer) was re-elected. Suzanne Weber (R–Tillamook) flipped a Democratic district, adding another pro-life voice to the Senate. Their wins along with Cedric Hayden (R–Roseburg) resulted in a net pro-life gain.
Kevin Mannix (R–Salem) and Cyrus Javadi (R–Tillamook) won their house races, holding two crucial pro-life seats. Tracy Cramer (R–Gervais) picked up another house seat in her first run for office. Lastly, Jeff Helfrich (R–Hood River) and Brian Stout (R–Columbia City) flipped two House seats for the pro-life movement.
With those wins, we have officially ended the pro-abortion supermajority in both the Oregon Senate and House of Representatives.
Pro-life candidates won county commissioner races throughout the state. Ryan Ceniga trounced his opponent in the contest for the West Lane County Commissioner position. Incumbent Marion County commissioners Colm Willis and Kevin Cameron cruised to victory over their challengers. Tony DeBone and Patti Adair also secured wins in Deschutes County.
In each of these races, the votes of pro-life Oregonians were an essential part of the winning margin. Thank you for voting pro-life!
Because everyone deserves an advocate,
