Hi John,
If you haven't heard the news... I'm officially running for reelection! Representing the city of Indianapolis has been one of the greatest honors of my life and, with your support, we will continue to lead our city in a bold direction, lift up every neighborhood as if it were our own, and move Indianapolis forward. Together, we will ensure that our city's best days are yet to come for this and future generations.
Three years ago, when the voters of Indianapolis elected me as Mayor, I believed that our city's best days were ahead of us. A few short months later, Indianapolis — along with almost every other major city in the world — was cast into the darkness of a years-long global health crisis. But in the face of hopelessness, we came together and personified the very best of our city.
Make no mistake: Indianapolis led the vanguard of cities that saw the light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. My administration swiftly deployed 168 million dollars in aid to those in need, protected tens of thousands of people from eviction, and eventually, helped Indianapolis become one of the first cities to safely host some of the biggest events anyone had seen since the pandemic hit.
And while I am proud of our city's COVID-19 response, all I can see right now are the things left undone over the last three years. I'm running for reelection to ensure that our vision of the future becomes a reality for the people of this great city. A reality that includes...
-
Fully implementing our three-year, $150 million violence reduction plan, including $9 million in modern police technology, funding for 100 new officers, and a $45 million grassroots anti-violence program that has already funded more than 80 local organizations
-
Deploying our strategy of using civilians and trained clinicians to keep those suffering from substance abuse and mental health challenges out of our jails and in the treatment programs they need and deserve
-
Continuing to build through our five-year, $1 billion dollar infrastructure plan, while working with the General Assembly to once and for all fix our state’s road funding formula – without raising taxes on Marion County residents
-
Ensuring the amazing economic success we’ve enjoyed in recent years is a rising tide that lifts up every neighborhood
-
Creating a safe, clean Downtown transformed by major development projects, and lifting our hospitality and tourism industries to new and greater heights in the process.

A new Indianapolis is possible, but not without your support. So, John, will you join me in the fight to ensure that our best days – our very best days – are yet to come?
Thank you,
Mayor Joe Hogsett
Mayor Joe Hogsett is the 49th mayor of the City of Indianapolis. During his time in office, Mayor Hogsett lifted a 35-year moratorium on new streetlights, initiated a comprehensive criminal justice reform effort, and launched the successful college completion program, Indy Achieves. In October, the City-County Council provided broad, bipartisan support to Hogsett’s 2023 fiscal priorities, which include the continued funding of a three-year, $150 million anti-violence initiative and a five year, $1.1 billion infrastructure plan. Mayor Hogsett was last elected in 2019, when he received 72% of the vote. You can learn more about his work at JoeHogsett.com.
