NBC REPORTS: “Gen Z has arrived in Congress: Maxwell Frost, 25, wins Florida House seat"
John, being elected as the first Gen Z member of Congress has been an incredible whirlwind. I’m so grateful to every voter and grassroots supporter who got me here.
But this isn’t just about my election. It’s so much more than that. I’m not the only Gen Z’er who made history on election night.
This is about the millions of young people who turned out to the polls in an unprecedented youth wave. It’s about the first-time voters who waited in line for hours on college campuses to cast their ballots. It’s about Gen Z candidates up and down the ballot, who decided to run for office themselves instead of waiting for real change, and won.
Gen Z kickstarted a generational shift in political power on Election night, quickly becoming one of the Democratic party’s most reliable constituencies.
And there’s still the other half of Gen Z that isn’t even old enough to vote yet!
Over the coming years, we’ll see the youth vote become even more of a force to be reckoned with.
But to keep this trend moving in the right direction, we need to organize with young people year-round and bring them into our movement, because – if it wasn’t made clear enough on Election night – young people will be the ones who safeguard the future of our country.
We’re going to continue organizing year-round because when it comes to building a better future for our generation, we can’t take a single day off. So please, chip in anything you can to power our movement so we can bring even more young voters into the fight >>
Don’t count out young people,
Maxwell Alejandro Frost
