The dust is still settling from last week's midterm elections, but one thing is certain: We were able to hold back a "red wave" because of our commitment to our values and our willingness to fight for the priorities of communities like ours.
That fight isn't over yet. Our progressive priorities will only be achieved by expanding Democratic power everywhere we can — and Senator Raphael Warnock is facing a runoff election on December 6, just weeks away. If he wins, it will increase the power of Democrats in the Senate, build momentum for good legislation, and make sure that Georgia continues to have a Senator of the highest character representing them.
With a 51-seat majority in the Senate, we'll be able to confirm more judges and more of President Biden's picks for key positions. Our priorities won't be held hostage by conservative Democrats like Sinema and Manchin. It's clear: Our movement needs Senator Warnock in the Senate fighting for what's right, not his far-right opponent Herschel Walker.
Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump, and the whole GOP have their eyes on Georgia, hoping for a victory. We all have to come together to make sure they don't succeed.
