The wait is over - season two of CLC's “Democracy Decoded” premieres today! This season, we're looking at voting in America and how we can become a nation where the ballot box is truly accessible to all. In episode one, I share my own voter story and talk about the barriers to voting that have been part of American history since the beginning. I also talk to CLC voting experts Danielle Lang and Paul Smith plus Brittany Carter of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund about what barriers exist today (and for whom).
My name is Simone Leeper, and I'm the host of "Democracy Decoded." In our podcast series, I chat with different experts about democracy and take a deep dive into the forces that shape our elections. When I’m not hosting this podcast, I litigate a wide range of redistricting-related cases in my role at CLC.
I challenge gerrymandered maps and advocate for election systems that guarantee all voters an equal opportunity to influence our democracy.
Thank you to this season’s co-producers: Casey Atkins, CLC’s multimedia strategist and creator of Democracy Decoded, and Mannal Haddad, CLC’s senior communications manager for voting rights and redistricting. This podcast could not happen without them.
While I'm here - Democracy Decoded just became an award winner! Many thanks to the MarCom Awards for recognizing our podcast, and to all the CLC staffers and democracy advocates who helped make the first season a winner. And if I haven't shared it enough, I'm very grateful for the support of listeners like you. Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Simone Leeper
