While we now know Senate control will not change hands at the beginning of 2023, that does not change the level of focus that Senators ought to have on filling federal court vacancies this November. We can’t miss the opportunity to quickly build on the tremendous efforts of the Biden Administration, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the entire Democratic caucus thus far!
The only way to bring balance to our federal judiciary is for the Senate to keep momentum and confirm equal justice champions immediately, making room for it to act on many, many more nominations through 2025.
That’s why today the Alliance for Justice is launching our Confirmations Overdue Campaign, highlighting several pivotal nominees that exemplify the caliber of the many pending judicial nominations that deserve action. We urge that:
- The Senate confirm at least ten nominees awaiting confirmation votes by the end of November; and
-
Everyone voted out of committee this year get a confirmation vote in our push to fill every seat by the end of the 117th Congress.
The Biden nominees here are just some of the critical representation needed on the federal bench immediately. They bring extraordinary professional and demographic diversity to our judicial branch and have demonstrated commitments to democracy, civil rights, workers’ rights, and so much more.
