Dear John,
The U.S. Senate will be voting this week on the Respect for Marriage Act. This critical legislation would protect marriage equality and ensure everyone has the right to have their marriage respected regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, or national origin. This should be an easy vote—one that is about love, commitment and family—no matter what that looks like. But there are still too many legislators on the fence and may be swayed by homophobic or racist opposition to our rights to love who we choose.
This is why we need your help to urge your Senators to vote yes on this important bill.

We need to protect marriage equality.
TAKE ACTION [[link removed]]
It’s not just about being able to marry the person you love. Couples could lose legal benefits and protections if their marriages are no longer recognized. No one should be living in fear that a vocal minority of bigots will take that away.
This law would require the Federal Government and all states to recognize marriages from other states, without discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, or national origin. It would also repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act, which barred married same-sex couples from accessing federal rights, benefits, and obligations of marriage before the Supreme Court found it unconstitutional. But as we saw with Dobbs overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court could go back on its word – which is why we need the Respect for Marriage Act. We need Congress to act now!
Legislators are voting this week! Tell the U.S. Senate to protect marriage equality and pass the Respect for Marriage Act now! [[link removed]]
