Wow!
The dust from this election is hardly settled, but one thing is clear: Reproductive freedom was on the ballot, and it won big. Several states added abortion rights to their state constitutions. Kentuckians defeated a ballot measure that would have prevented an existing abortion ban or any future ban from being challenged in the courts. Our allies maintained—and may still increase—their majority in the U.S. Senate, and House control remains unknown. The predicted “red wave” turned into a trickle.
Population Connection Action Fund donors, activists, and volunteers helped make sure that it did.
Supporters like you helped put organizers on the ground in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. And their work paid off in the re-election of Sen. Mark Kelly and Rep. Greg Stanton in Arizona; Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto and Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford in Nevada; Rep. Susan Wild in Pennsylvania; and the election of Sen. John Fetterman, also in Pennsylvania.
All of these candidates are stand-out champions of reproductive rights for everyone across the United States and around the world. And having these champions in Congress will be essential to making progress on expanding access to family planning and protecting abortion rights.
We’re proud of the work our team did to talk to voters in these communities: at their doors, on the phone, and through interactive text messages. And we’re proud to stand with each of these officials—and YOU!—in fighting for a healthy future for everyone.
Now it’s off to Georgia to get out the vote for Sen. Raphael Warnock in the runoff election on December 6. Thank you for all your support.
