John–
When we started our work to end gun violence nearly ten years ago, we knew taking on the gun industry and its allies wouldn't be easy.
But that didn't stop us—and now, we're closer than ever to reaching our goal of making sure no child ever has to live in fear of gun violence.
Join me in celebrating the hard work you did this election year to make sure gun safety won up and down the ballot: Watch and share our new video.
Because of you, we flipped statehouses, made history, and eroded the gun lobby's power more than ever before. We became the real red wave—an army of volunteers in red Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action shirts working to elect leaders who will put public safety first.
The numbers tell the story: We reached out to more than 6 million voters to help get out the vote across the country for the record 5,000 candidates who received our Gun Sense Candidate Distinction in all 50 states. Among them were more than 275 of my fellow Moms Demand Action volunteers who ran for office—including the more than 125 of them who won.
When I joined this movement back in the early days of Moms Demand Action, it would have been easy for us to throw in the towel and give up. We were fighting an intense uphill battle, where several leaders on both sides of the aisle were against gun safety.
Now, thanks to you, we're thriving and leading the way in a massive culture shift away from the gun industry's "guns everywhere" agenda.
But our work isn't done. We'll continue to build our bench of Gun Sense Candidates and volunteers in office, and we'll build on our momentum to create the next generation of candidates who roll up their red sleeves and get to work.
We've come a long way—and we've only just begun.
Thank you for being a part of this movement. We wouldn't be here without you.
