Celebrating Our Nation's Veterans
|
It is fitting and right that we set aside time to honor those who have given of themselves for a cause greater than each of us — those whose uncommon sense of duty has led to uncommon acts of service — and to remember that the blessings of liberty we all enjoy are often preserved at a high price.
My office is also a resource to help our fellow Texans navigate the federal bureaucracy, and my staff and I have worked with many local veterans to resolve claims, track down records, and even obtain long-overdue medals and commendations. While we cannot guarantee a specific outcome, we will work our hardest to make sure you are receiving the care and attention you deserve. If you or a veteran you know needs assistance dealing with the VA or another federal agency, please call my office or contact me at my website, cloud.house.gov/agencies, and my team and I would be honored to take up your case.
Although gratitude cannot fully compensate for the sacrifices made, we recognize our veterans as leaders who never surrendered to fear when our nation’s security was on the line. These men and women chose the higher calling, and it is because of them that Americans can continue to celebrate the freedoms that we hold dear.
To those who served: Happy Veterans Day! May your service inspire us to continued action. God bless you and your families.

Click to learn more about the Veterans History Project
|
In honor of Veterans Day, I recently announced that my office is collaborating with the Library of Congress to launch the Veterans History Project in TX-27.
The Veterans History Project collects, preserves, and makes accessible the firsthand accounts of American wartime veterans so that future generations may learn about veterans’ experiences in their own words to better understand the realities of war.
|
American war veterans who reside in the 27th Congressional District are encouraged to register to be interviewed for the Veterans History Project. After an interview is completed, it is archived with the Library of Congress and made available for all citizens to watch and cherish the sacrifices of these courageous service men and women.
For those interested in sharing your own story or know someone who would be interested, please visit cloud.house.gov/VeteransHistoryProject to get more information on how to register.
If you would like to bypass an interview or make your own contribution, please visit loc.gov/vets to learn how.

Investigating Mayorkas's Lies
|
I’m fighting censorship bias by joining my House Oversight Committee colleagues in investigating Secretary Mayorkas’ potential corruption. Our investigation was launched after recent reports indicated that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to operate a taxpayer-funded censorship campaign to target online speech and discredit legitimate criticism of the Biden administration.
Earlier this year, the Biden administration announced the creation of an Orwellian "Disinformation Governance Board.” After receiving massive backlash from Americans across this nation, this “Ministry of Truth” was supposedly shut down.
However, these new reports indicate DHS is still secretly using taxpayer money to continue censoring criticism of this administration. Meanwhile, Mayorkas himself was caught blatantly lying to the American people regarding a Border Patrol “whipping” controversy.
So it’s ok for the Biden administration to lie to the American people, but it’s not ok for Americans to criticize the administration?
This hypocrisy is why the House Oversight Committee is seeking all documents and communications related to the inception and operation of any online content monitoring program hosted by or in partnership with DHS.

Survey: Do you believe social media companies are biased in their censorship of political opinions? Taking this survey will sign you up for future news and updates from my office.

Another lie coming from the Biden administration is that our border is “secure.” I’m pressing Mayorkas and the Biden regime for information on their plans (if any) to secure our border.
This Administration is actively ignoring the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. The Biden administration continues to promote policies that enable illegal immigration, drug smuggling, and human trafficking—all of which undermine our national security and support criminal cartel empires.
In FY 2022 alone:
- 2.2 million apprehensions of illegal immigrants
- Over 500k “gotaways”
- 98 apprehensions of suspected terrorists
- Enough fentanyl smuggled in to kill every American several times over
- Nearly 900 illegal immigrant deaths
We must return to sensible Trump-era border policies to protect our national security, cut the earnings for violent cartels, and end this ongoing humanitarian crisis at our border.
|
- Recently, I signed onto a letter to demand answers as to why the Biden administration seems to be delaying retirement payments to border patrol agents by up to 13 months.
- I also signed onto a letter to investigate potential waste of taxpayer dollars by the Virgin Islands' Water and Power Authority.
- Got a good kick out of this! Check out this clip from the Tonight Show:
