On Monday, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis issued a nationwide order temporarily putting Biden's student loan relief plans in legal limbo.

The federal appeals court's ruling came after six states — Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, and South Carolina — claimed that the debt relief plan threatens their future tax revenues and circumvents congressional authority. 

The Biden administration could ask the Supreme Court to lift the order.

Even as election results continue to trickle in, it was "another successful election for animal advocates," according to the Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF), the nation’s largest political advocacy organization for animals.

President of HSLF Sara Amundson said, “[We] knew for certain coming into this election season that it would be a fateful one for animals, and we mobilized accordingly.”
