Dear supporter,

This year we witnessed the completion of a genocide. An Indigenous man, the last member of his tribe and the only inhabitant of the Tanaru Indigenous Territory in the Brazilian Amazon, was found dead.

No outsider knew this man’s name, or even very much about his tribe — he resisted all attempts at contact, and was known only as “the Man of the Hole.” What we do know is that the death of his people was not accidental. It was genocide, the deliberate wiping out of an entire people by cattle ranchers hungry for land and wealth, emboldened by a government that turns a blind eye to atrocities committed against Indigenous peoples.

Unfortunately, this is not a one time incident. Indigenous people in Brazil continue to fight for their lives against the devastation created by outgoing Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro and his still powerful agribusiness allies. Indigenous people, resisting the theft of their land, are being attacked and murdered.

Together with the Indigenous peoples we have worked with for decades, Survival is doing everything in our power to make sure this genocide is not repeated. And we need your help

When you support Survival, you fund our campaigns, critical investigations, and on-the-ground help to support Indigenous peoples facing genocide in Brazil. And right now, your donations make double the difference.

This year on November 29th, Survival will be participating in Giving Tuesday, a day of global generosity that demonstrates the power we each have to enact change. This Giving Tuesday, every pound / dollar you give to support Survival’s campaigns will be matched by a generous donor, up to £80,000/ $90,000.

Our goal is to raise £160,000/ $180,000 this year for our crucial campaign work. Will you stand with Indigenous peoples this Giving Tuesday?

Thank you,

Jade Bridgwood
