PFAW Member, THANK YOU. We’ve been digging into the numbers from 2019 and from our end-of-year campaign and I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that we had one of our best Decembers ever – second only to 2016, immediately following the election of Donald Trump when we raised $700K. (This year we topped $600K, thanks to your amazing showing of support both on Giving Tuesday as well as at the very end of the year.) And, all of it will go to supporting our work. It makes sense that when Trump was elected, organizations like PFAW saw a surge in support as Americans realized how important we’d be to building a resistance movement and fighting back against the incoming Trump administration’s constant attacks on the American Way. At the time, the Advocate magazine even listed PFAW #1 among “Trump fighting organizations that need your dollars” – and PFAW members seemingly heeded the call. It also makes sense that the next biggest showing of support would come right as we’re heading into the election year when we get to correct the disaster of 2016 and finish the job we’ve been doing in elections ever since. Our progress in elections since Trump was elected includes flipping the House in the 2018 midterms, historic victories in Virginia in both 2017 and 2019 (resulting in top-to-bottom Democratic control of that state’s government), and many dozens of progressive flips in special elections and state and local elections along the way. Now we’re aiming to END Trump’s presidency, deal a decisive rebuke to Trumpism and his movement of hate, stop Mitch McConnell’s assault on democracy and our courts by flipping control of the U.S. Senate, and begin desperately needed policy reforms and cultural healing that’s needed after Trump has so thoroughly put the strength of our democratic institutions and our country’s commitment to constitutional principles to the test. And if PFAW members stay as fired up and committed to the fight as you showed that you were during our year-end campaign, we will win and take our country back. The team emailed you a lot in the final days of 2019 – thanks for bearing with it. We wouldn’t email so much if it weren’t necessary, because of the urgency and importance of making our budgets and funding our work. But I’m thankful that it paid off and even more thankful that you stepped up yet again to let us know that you’re with us for the fight of our lives. We’re going to make history this year and save our country. As we enter this monumental year, I am so eager to see all that you and PFAW will accomplish together. So thanks again. For your support and for everything you do. Happy New Year, Michael Keegan, President, on behalf of everyone at PFAW
