Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
Thank You!
Serving the 15th District of Florida has been an honor and a privilege. I appreciate the support and engagement from thousands of constituents while serving my first term in congress. Your letters, phone calls, and visits to my offices in Florida and Washington were critical to helping me understand the issues most important to you. While my team and I are sad to hand over our constituents from Lake and Hillsborough Counties to a new representative, I’m confident you'll be in capable hands. In the 118th Congress, in addition to Polk County, I look forward to representing folks from Collier, Desoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands and Okeechobee Counties in the new FL-18. We are #FloridaStrong.
Honoring our Veterans
Veterans Day is an opportunity to thank those who served and sacrificed in defense of our nation. For nearly 250 years, Americans from all creeds, religions, and ethnicities have answered the call when our country asked. I am grateful to be counted among them. Our nation owes our veterans a debt we can never repay. I'm proud to support several initiatives for our veteran community, including:
H.R. 8081 - Wounded Warrior Bill of Rights Act, which directs the Secretary of Defense to establish a policy protecting the rights of wounded, ill, and injured service members.
H.R. 7524 - ACES Act, which requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to study cancer among pilots and aviators in the Armed Forces.
H.R. 5819 - Autonomy for Disabled Veterans Act, which increases the amount of grant money given to veterans who need improvements or structural alterations to their homes.
H.R. 2910 - Veterans Health Care Freedom Act, which creates a pilot program to improve the ability of veterans enrolled in VA health care systems to access hospital care, medical services, and extended care services.
These are a few veteran-focused bills I have proudly supported. I will continue to advocate on behalf of veterans.
