Dear Friends,

We asked for your support at the end of the year and you really came through.

You provided a nonstop wave of donations—often in addition to your monthly or previous gifts—through midnight on Dec. 31 to help us hit the ground running in 2020.

I cannot thank you enough for your continued commitment to this movement and steadfast belief in our Coalition, which extends well beyond donations.

Throughout the past year, your voices, vision, and effort said loud and clear to both our champions and our detractors that the secular community is a force to be reckoned with.

And your 2020 New Year's resolutions make it clear that your fierce advocacy will continue in spades. I'm proud to share a few of our favorites:

I don’t typically pay attention to holidays, but New Years is special for me. On January 1, 2000 at 12:01 AM, Sharon Fratepietro and I got married, an easy anniversary to remember. After ten happy years of living in sin, being married to Sharon continues to be just as much fun. New Years is also a time for me to resolve to continue spending time and energy to make America less theocratic and more secular.

-Herb Silverman
Founder, Secular Coalition for America

I've been a permanent resident (immigrant) since 1994. This year, I became a US citizen. For 2020, my goal is to participate in our democratic process and support politicians and bills that honor the Establishment Clause. Secularism benefits everybody.
-Myra F.

I will continue:
* to write my legislators about separation of church and state issues.
* to post secular and atheist information on my Facebook page.
* my association with Reno Freethinkers group supporting new people who arrive rejecting religious world view and pass on secular literature.

-William Weber
I resolve in 2020 to vote for a strong woman, who will be our first female POTUS.
-John Simons

My resolution for 2020 is to continue to support Humanism and the separation of government from religion by giving talks to any community, religious or educational groups that are interested in learning about these subjects. I am always surprised by the number of people who tell me that they had not realized how close their views were to Humanism. I am willing to share my templates of talks to any fellow Humanists who express interest by communicating with me at [email protected].

-Cy Chadley

Helping to organize and grow the secular movement, especially in Southern California, through "CASE"... community, advocacy, service and education. Helping to bring leaders of secular groups together, advocate for more collaboration with social cause groups like the United Nations Association, engage with local politicians, and increase involvement with interfaith groups.
-Dave Rice

Thanks to so many of you who shared resolutions, and again, thank you all for setting us up for success in 2020.

As you know, there's a lot at stake this year, which is why I'm so thankful for your support and why I'm so excited to continue this work in partnership with our 19 member organizations and tens of thousands of incredible SCA members like you.

In fact, I'm more confident than ever that in 2020 we will make major progress in our fight to ensure our nation's government remains secular and respectful of religious freedom for all.

With that in mind, I wish you a happy and healthy New Year. Now, it's time to get to work!

With heartfelt gratitude,
Debbie Allen
Executive Director
