Monday Nature Mystery
We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, Cathy Jett. (Please email your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to [email protected].)
Congratulations to Cathy for identifying the track of a Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo). According to All About Birds, you can find this species foraging early in the morning along forest edges that contain oak and hickory trees. Turkeys roost in trees but nest on the ground. Turkey eggs are a pale yellowish-tan with evenly marked reddish-brown or pink spots.
