Biden Meets Xi

President Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping sought to halt a rapid downward spiral in relations between Washington and Beijing, instructing officials to resume stalled talks on major global priorities, but the two countries acknowledged areas of deep disagreement that could disrupt those efforts, as the WSJ reports

Zelensky Visits Kherson

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine made an unannounced visit to the newly freed city of Kherson on Monday, reveling in perhaps the most significant success by his country’s forces since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February, as the NYT reports

CIA director warns Russia against use of nuclear weapons

CIA director Bill Burns has warned Russia against using nuclear weapons in the first known in-person meeting between senior officials of the two countries since President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, as the FT reports.
