Hi folks —
First and foremost, I want to thank you again for all of your support over the last two years — whether you pitched in to our campaign, put up yard signs, or called your friends to make sure they voted, each of you owns a part of our victory last week.
As we continue to watch election results trickle in, I just wanted to take a moment to share some of my thoughts with you on the results of a few other important races here in North Carolina.
Cheri Beasley ran an incredible campaign focused on results, equality, and progress. While the results of this election were not what we hoped for, the road does not stop here. Our country needs more leaders like Cheri who’ll put working families first and stand up for what’s right — and I know she’ll never stop fighting for North Carolinians.
We also secured some significant wins. I am excited to congratulate many of my new colleagues who I know will fight for a better and brighter future for all North Carolinians, including Don Davis, Valerie Foushee, Jeff Jackson, and Wiley Nickel. I look forward to working together in Congress for a better North Carolina.
North Carolina voters also prevented Republicans from gaining the supermajority in the state legislature — a huge win in our fight to protect reproductive freedom and voting rights here in our state.
Across the country, Democrats are defying expectations. And while we don’t know all of the results just yet, one thing is abundantly clear: We cannot give up the fight for an America where everyone has a real shot at the American Dream and where no one is left behind, because when we stand together, anything is possible.
Hope is a big part of what defines us as Democrats. And we’re willing to put in the hard work to make our dreams of a better future a reality.
So let’s keep hoping and believing and fighting for progress. I know I will, and I hope you will continue to do the same right alongside me.
From the bottom of my heart, thanks for everything, folks.
Onward,
Deborah
